Default Characters

Image And Name Game Description

Mario SSB4

Mario

Super Mario Not including Mario in Smash is like setting money on fire: it just doesn't make sense. Mario is the "standard" type of character, which means he's good for players who are just starting out. He can use his cape, use FLUDD, jump (and get coins while attacking with the jump) and, of course, shoot fire from his hands.

200px-Princess Peach Artwork - Super Mario 3D World

Peach

Super Mario Princess Toadstool, aka Princess Peach, is the princess of the large Mushroom Kingdom. Despite getting kidnapped a lot, it seems she can hold her on in Smash Bros! She can use a frying pan, golf club, and tennis racket, throw turnips at enemies, attack with her crown, use her parasol, and even ram into people.

Bowser MP10

Bowser

Super Mario Bowser is the fearsome ruler of the Koopa Kingdom, and has kidnapped Princess Peach more times than we can count! Bowser can grab an enemy and body slam them, use his shell as a spinning fortress, and of course, breathe fire! A new move he has is tossing hammers, straight from his first game! Bowser can also chomp opponents.

DonkeyKCR

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong is the strong but lovabale brute from the Donkey Kong Country series. For new attacks, he can toss barrels like in his first game. For old attacks, he can charge up a strong punch, spin in the air for a few seconds, pick up opponents and throw them, and slam the ground with his large palms. Another new attack includes his Coconut Gun from DK64.

YoshiML

Yoshi

Yoshi's Island Yoshi is Mario's dinosaur friend, and has been around since Mario was a baby. Yoshi's main feature is his stomach and how big it is! Yoshi can swallow enemies and spit them out as eggs, toss eggs, flutter jump, and just use regular kicks and headbutts. Yoshi has great recovery and speed, but lacks the power that someone like Donkey Kong has.

LinkHyruleWarriorsRender

Link

The Legend Of Zelda There's so many incarnations of the Hero Of Hyrule, and here's one right now! The design is from Hyrule Warriors! Link can use his iconic Hylian Shield and his more iconic Master Sword for attacks, and he can also use his Gale Boomerang, Bombs, and more! In addition, he has a new move where he can use his Spinner from Twilight Princess.

Zelda Wind Waker (Hyrule Warriors)Sheik (Hyrule Warriors)

Zero Suit Samus is Samus without her iconic Power Suit, but that doesn't mean she has no moves! She can use her Jet Boots for attacks, and also use her Grapple Beam, Paralyzer, Plasma Whip, and more to attack with! She's one of the speediest character in the game, too!

Kirby has the best recovery, due to the fact he can puff up his body 4 times.

Pikachu can use his infamous Thunder attack, along with headbutting, Tail Whip, Quick Attack, Thunder Jolt, and more. Pikachu is a speedy character, and is as fast as Zero Suit Samus.

MewtwoEclipse

Mewtwo

In addition, he can also use Exo Tanks in his arsenal, along with the Mirror Shield and plenty of other attacks.
Marthssbb

It's in the name, after all, He can use Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, and White for attacking, use Winged Pikmin for attack. and now he can use Rock Pikmin for more attacks!

Ice Climbers 2

Ice Climbers

Ice Climber The Ice Climbers were taken out of the last game due to limitations on the Nintendo 3DS. Since the NX is more powerful, however, the eskimo duo is back, baby! Default Stages

Image And Name Game Description

SSBBRZS Battlefield

Battlefield

Super Smash Bros. Having a Smash game without Battlefield is like having a pizza without toppings: it just doesn't work. It's a flat stage with 3 floating platforms, so it's nothing special. It's good for people who want to start playing the game, and it's pretty much the stage version of Mario.

250px-World 1 - Super Mario 3D World

3D World

Super Mario 3D World 3D World takes place on a floating platform, going around the entire map of Super Mario 3D World. Sometimes, the platform lands down in World 1, World 3, World 5, and World Bowser. Each area the platform lands has a different gimmick, including Meowser running at the opponents before the platform goes back up.

AcornPlainsWay

Mushroom Kingdom U

New Super Mario Bros. U Mushroom Kingdom U has come back from the Wii U edition of Super Smash Bros.! Kamek appears and changes up the battlefield from Acorn Plains, Meringue Clouds, Rock Candy Mountains, and a castle. Sometimes, Nabbit may appear on the battlefield and try and kidnap a fighter. You can attack Nabbit, though.

MarioPaintScreen

Mario Paint

Mario Paint Mario Paint is a stage based off the game...well, Mario Paint! The background changes from time to time, changing from the title screen to the music maker and ending at the painting section. Occasionally, the hand from the game may appear and spawn an easy enemy from Story Mode.

BabyBowserBattle

Baby Bowser's Castle

Yoshi's Island In the original Yoshi's Island, the final level took place on Baby Bowser's Castle. In this game, that level has been turned into a new stage! In the background, Baby Bowser can be seen stomping in the background. He's sort of like a stage boss, but he gets knocked all the way back with a few hits.

MangroveCove

Mangrove Cove

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Mangrove Cove is the World 1-1 of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. You start out on the beach, but then a ship crashes onto the beach, giving the players an extra platform to jump on. You can jump on Dozies, and throw them at the other opponents. Sometimes, Pompy appears and slams down and tries to attack the players.

75mBrawl

75m

Donkey Kong This is the 3rd level in the original Donkey Kong, and was featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U. You have moving platforms that go up and respawn, springs that fall down and can launch you pretty far, and then there's the big guy himself, Donkey Kong! If you touch him, it's an instant KO for the player!

PalaceOfTwilight

Palace Of Twilight

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess The Palace Of Twilight was added in honor of The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. It changes between the outside of the palace and Zant's throne room. There happens to be a stage boss in the form of Zant. Argorok can also appear as a platform at times, but will soon fly away about a minute later. Shadow Beasts also appear in the background.

Super-Metroid-01

Zebes Caverns

Super Metroid

Super Metroid had a lot of locations to travel to. One of them was Zebes. The stage takes place in the caverns of Zebes, and it's a lot like the Temple from Super Smash Bros. Melee, in which it's very large and expansive. Sometimes, enemies like Dessgeegas will appear and will let you attack them, turning into throwing items.

300px-Pyrosphere press image

Pyrosphere

Metroid: Other M Pyrosphere is a stage taken straight out of the game "Metroid: Other M." It was in the Wii U version, and now it's coming back for this game! Ridley is the stage's boss again, but is more fleshed out and plays like an actual character. If ****** is on the stage, it's changed to Meta Ridley. Smaller enemies appear at times and clutter up the battlefield.

Serene Village

Serene Village

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon Serene Village from Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. You fight in the plaza, as other Pokemon move around and do things in the background.Kecleon may throw some food or health items from time to time, and Hawlucha may run in from time to time and act like the Flying Men and help whoever touches him first.

PokemonStadiumBrawl

Pokemon Stadium +

Pokemon At first glance, this seems like Pokemon Stadium coming back from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Well, think again! It keeps it's previous assets, like the Ice and Electric parts, but adds new parts to the always switching stage, including Dark and Fairy parts. Many different Pokemon appear in the background, and some may even change the tide of the battle.

MountDededeKSSU

Mt. Dedede

Kirby Super Star Straight out of Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra, it's Mt. Dedede! It's a lot like the Dream Land stage from the 3DS version, in which each setting will soon fade out, only to be replaced with another one. You go in Dedede's Boxing Ring, the starting room, and the lobby where you can go into the other rooms where the other bosses reside in the game.

Corneria

Corneria City

Star Fox Zero This is Corneria City. Specifically, the version from the upcoming game, Star Fox Zero. You fight on Arwings as they zoom through the large city, and sometimes a Walker serves as an additional platform. At some points, falling rubble from the buildings may fall and land on an Arwing, making it go away for a minute or two.

ChaosVortex

Chaos Vortex

Kid Icarus: Uprising The Chaos Vortex is the main location from Chapter 21 of Kid Icarus: Uprising. It is where the (fittingly enough) chaos-loving Chaos Kin is found. You fight on moving platforms, and sometimes enemies from the Aurum, Underworld Army, and the Forces Of Nature fly over and try to attack you! Watch out for the Chaos Kin in the background!

Arena Ferox

Arena Ferox

Fire Emblem: Awakening Arena Ferox returns from the 3DS installment of Super Smash Bros. It functions much like Pokemon Stadium +, in which the platforms change constantly. The platforms rise up at random and pretty much change the pace of the battle overall. If you get caught under a platform as it goes down, it's an instant KO for you!

250px-SSB4USmashville

Smashville

Animal Crossing: Wild World Smashville was once a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and then brought to the Wii U version of Smash Bros! It's a stage with platforms, so it's nothing too special. But the background makes up for it! Different locations and animal villagers can be seen in the background, and sometimes K.K. Slider will appear!

Icicle Mountain

Icicle Mountain

Ice Climber Icicle Mountain is coming back from Super Smash Bros. Melee, along with the Ice Climbers! It's similar to how it was in Melee, in which it scrolls up vertically, and it can sometimes speeds up like Rumble Falls from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Polar Bears return, along with Toppi's, who are seal-like enemies in the Japanese version.

Pikmin1

Distant Planet

Pikmin Distant Planet returns from Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. A Bulborb can come from the edge of the screen and open it's mouth. If you land in it, it's an instant KO. In addition, it can sometimes rain, making the slope a slippery mess to fight on. Onions can fly down and give you items.

Green-hill-zone-en-3d-fait-son-petit-effet-ca-rappelle-le-niveau-bonus-de-sonic-

Green Hill Zone

Sonic The Hedgehog Green Hill Zone AGAIN?! Ugh...well, hold back you "ughs!" This is a new, advanced version of the stage. It looks like it came straight from Sonic Generations. You fight on a floating platform as it moves through the stage, and sometimes a totem pole may fall on you. In addition, Badniks may appear as enemies. Nothing too major.

DesertCanyonsArea1

The Gorge

Monster Hunter Frontier The Gorge is a stage straight from the game "Monster Hunter Frontier." It's home to trenches, and if you fall into one, it's an instant KO! The stage is home to a stage boss, Rathalos. Rathalos can destroy platforms for a short amount of time, but if you attack him enough, he'll attack you opponents! Rajangs and Berukyurosu can be seen in the background.

NeoStage1

Stage 1-1

Bomberman Neo This is the first stage from the game "Bomberman Neo." You fight on a platform with the maze in the background, but sometimes a Bomberman may throw a bomb onto the battlefield to trick you. In addition, there also happens to be a stage boss: Hoop Ghost. Hoop Ghost will body slam onto the ground, and his hoop can hit you,

Trivia

  • Sakurai has comfirmed that about 5 characters that appeared in the newest games won't be in. Those characters have been comfirmed as Rosalina and Luma, Ryu, Charizard, Toon Link, and Lucas.
  • However, Sakurai has said that Dr. Mario, Roy, and Dark Pit aren't gone entirely, as they happen to be alternate costumes now.
  • When asked about if any of the other cut characters will be added again, Sakurai stated DLC could become a possibility.
  • A leak was found of promotional art for Ratholos from Monster Hunter. Whether it's fake or not is up for debate. If it is real, however, it means Capcom will return for this game, and Mega Man may as well. Not to mention the fact that Ryu is cut being strong evidence as well. This was later comfirmed to be true, as Mega Man and Rathalos were added to the game (Rathalos as a stage boss), along with Felyne as a playable character.
