Fighters of Darkness is an umbrella fighting game made by Hamclub13(Talk), to mirror the style of SuperSonicDarkness(Talk), as well as poking a bit of fun at habits of his when creating these. It was made as part of the Lapis Weekly Challenge, the challenge being to create a umbrella game in the style of another.
Fighters of Darkness is a 2D fighter-platformer which draws much inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. series. The goal is to hit your opponents to rack up damage, then deliver a more powerful attack to launch them off the screen.
Since Dark rarely includes items or assists, these are not included in Fighters of Darkness. Bosses are excluded due to the mere fact that Ham isn't fond of the idea of bosses interrupting a battle.
Hey, who saw this guy coming? Alpha is the shy yet heroic hero of TOME, as stated in every one of Dark's umbrellas. As it is also stated, he uses powers based upon the gods of ancient Greece to attack, such as summoning lightning, waves or throwing a discus-like shield. But hey, let's ignore canon and spice things up a bit! In Fighters of Darkness, Alpha has a much wider pallet of attacks, though each are based on Greek gods. Summon skeletal allies through the power of Hades, manipulate your surroundings with Hecate's magic or even go full-out war on foes thanks to Ares!
It's-a-him! A staple in Dark's older umbrellas, as is the next character in this table. Let's see what Dark's got for him... "The hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario uses his hammer and fights with fire-based attacks." "A world-famous plumber who specializes in fire-based attacks. He also can use a hammer and a Tanooki Suit during battle." Okay then. As well as spamming fireballs, hammers and Tanooki tails, Mario comes armed with a ? Block. Every time you hit it, you'll do a random attack based on items from the Mario series. While the 3 mentioned earlier are most common, you can also get a Wing Cap, a Cape Feather, a Penguin Suit or a Spring Mushroom, among others.
Screw Peach! Screw Pauline! Definitely screw Daisy! We've got a new princess in town! Rosalina tends to hog the spotlight, despite only appearing in 3 main series games, one as a cameo. In Dark's canon, she's a space goddess so let's go with that and just pretend that no official sources have stated that she is indeed a princess. She can use Star Bits, spin jumps, Grand Stars and space magic to attack, but that's boooooooori- Actually, no. That's kinda cool. Let's go with that. As well as shooting Star Bits, spin jumping and summoning Grand Stars, Rosalina can use space magic to summon apparitions of characters encountered by Mario on his intergalactic travels. This includes - but is not limited to - Lumas that work like in Super Smash Bros. 4, the Cosmic Spirit who acts like a Rosalina AI and Gobblegut, who flies around at high speeds and burrows into the stage.
Some red girl from some animation by Rooster Teeth which everybody seems to love. Ruby is apparently a huntress-in-training who wields some sort of scythe that transforms into a sniper rifle. I don't know much about RWBY and you're not really giving me much to work with here. I guess she's quick and agile but lacking in the power department. Her scythe allows for close range action and her sniper rifle lets her target opponents easily and LAUNCH A BARRAGE OF BULLETS STRAIGHT INTO THEIR SKULL.
It's... me. SuperSonicHamclub confirmed for otp. Why, Dark, why? Taylor- er, I attack by throwing Taylor Swift albums, KFC chicken, a device that turns people into memes and using Porkgroup31 as a human shield. Wait, what? KFC? Since when am I obsessed with- OH. Inside jokes. Got it now. I can also ship myself with anyone, but shipping me with Pinkie results in a mega pink explosion.
Puella Madoka Magica
Madoka is a magical girl from a really popular anime series about more magical girls. Anyway, Madoka uses a bow and arrow to fight, as well as minor magical abilities. She can summon Kyubey to fight alongside her. By charging up, she can use the power of a Soul Gem to become a magical girl and use stronger magic! Kawaii desu~!
Flamey, er, Flamegirl is a player of TOME of the Spellcaster class. She's a confident and skilled player of TOME, but the controls are probably different in this game. I say probably because literally nobody on this wiki includes controls and I'm no exception. There's also the fact that TOME probably never shows the actual controls. Regardless, Flamegirl is a quick character with strong pyrokinetic abilities such as Flame Bullet and Sun Bomb.
HI-CHA! HI-CHA! HI-CHA! Yes, that is indeed the sound of Peach using Peach Bomber! Princess Peach, the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, is not kidnapped by Bowser this time. Probably not, anyway. Maybe that's the reason she's unlockable? Who cares. Peach attacks with Perry and her Vibes, as well as driving around in her Royal Ribbon.
